Miami Soul Sisters Vol 1Various
CD (Item 462459) Henry Stone, Late 60s/1970s — Condition: New Copy
A treasure trove of female soul from the Miami scene of the 60s and 70s – most of it originally issued on the TK family of labels in the pre-disco years! The collection goes way past the obvious Miami hits of the time, and although a few names here are familiar, they're represented by more obscure tunes – alongside some even lesser-known singers who show the full depths of Florida soul at the time! Many of these numbers have a heartfelt, deep soul sound that rivals the greatness of bigger work from Memphis or Muscle Shoals at the time – and most of the best work here is mellow, laidback, and far more up close and personal than some of the later Miami pop of the mid and late 70s. Titles include "Come On Playboy" by Audrey Royal, "Don't Be Surprised" by Diamonettes, "Surrendering My Love" by Charmettes, "Tears In My Eyes" by Lynn Williams, "You Gotta Change" by Kitty Love, "I Tried So Hard To Be Good To You" by Helene Smith, "What Am I Gonna Do" by Reid Inc, "I Can't See Him Again" by Twans, "Pure Love" by Betty Wright, and "He Don't Ever Lose His Groove" by Gwen McCrae. (Note: although these CDs are legit, they are produced as CDRs with artwork by copyright owner Henry Stone.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
