Early work from this overlooked UK post-punk outfit – a group who've resurfaced in recent years, but who sound especially wonderful here! The style is stark, stiff, and edgey – very much in the best Rough Trade singles mode from the early years – and in ways that remind us a lot of some of the better groups coming out from Leeds at the time – slightly experimental at points, but still with a basic punk rock sensibility to their music. Lead vocals are by the group's female singer – which invites occasional comparisons to Au Pairs – and some tunes have a nicely dubby undercurrent, thanks to the placement of the bass in the mix.
