Wait For Me
CD (Item 610547) Crammed (Belgium), 2012 — Condition: New Copy
One of the best combinations of African and European modes we've heard in awhile – thanks to some great overall production and execution! Belgian singer Stef Lamil Carlens works here with Burkina Faso musicians Awa Deme and Mamadou Diabate Kibie – in this very cool blend of rootsy, bluesy sounds and more contemporary songwriting – a wicked blend that shouldn't sound nearly as great as it does! The album's a great antidote to all the cultural pilfering that's gone on over the years by Anglo musicians on the African scene – and really does feel like a true collaboration in the way that Stef's lyrics are blended with the balafon, percussion, and added vocals from Ada Deme. Titles include "Taare", "Sababu", "Tasuma/Ji", "A Sera A Waara", "Sia Slide", and "Ala Lon Man Di". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
