Chiemi & Carl Jones
CD (Item 598790) King (Japan), 1961 — Condition: New Copy
A Japanese album, but one with a very American feel – thanks to English language vocals throughout, and also to the presence of singer Carl Jones! Although the set is one recorded by Chiemi Eri during her run on King Records, it also features piano and vocals by Jones as well – singing alongside Eri in a warmly soulful style that's totally great – and which almost reminds us a bit of the early work by Andy & The Bey Sisters! The tunes are all familiar standards, but the renditions are quite fresh and jazzy – and titles include "Cheek To Cheek", "Again", "Dream", "Under Paris Skies", "The Nearness Of You", "Love Her", and "You You You".
