Great early Crusaders stuff, and like many of their 60s sides, filled with memorable soul jazz that would become the template for a sound that would become the face of popular jazz for decades. The songs are almost all short, hard-cracking originals, and they've all got that tight LA groove that the band virtually invented – with sharp, concise solos that ring out nicely by Wayne Henderson, Wilton Felder, and Joe Sample. 9 numbers in all including "Boopie", "Turkish Black", "Deacon Brown", "Tough Talk", "Lazy Canary", "Lonely Horn", "Brother Bernard" and "No Name Samba". (Original black label pressing. Cover has some wear, discoloration from age, and some pen on back.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
