LP (Item 500838) Wave (UK), 1961 — Condition: New Copy
One of the few albums ever issued as a leader by Peter Ind – an interesting figure from the Lee Konitz years of the 50s – a bassist, recording technician, and eventually owner of the Wave Records label! The set's an interesting extrapolation of the Konitz group ideals – in that things are still creatively modern, yet shifted with a different sensibility with bass in the lead – a mode that almost brings some unexpected soul to the record, even amidst the light interplay between the musicians at hand! Players include Sal Mosca and Ronnie Jordan on piano, Joe Puma and Al Schackman on guitar, Dick Scott on drums, and a surprising early appearance by Sheila Jordan on vocals! The album's actually Jordan's first recording session ever, and even here, she sounds pretty darn great.
