Reality & Fantasy
CD (Item 554640) Sugar/WEA (Italy), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Heavy piano and raspy vocals from Raphael Gulazzi – an artist with a boldly jazz feel, and a classic sense of spirit we'd put right up there between the best recent work from Mario Biondi and Jamie Cullum! Like Mario, Raphael is Italian, but mostly sings in English – accenting the vocals nicely with a rich tone that's mighty nice – and like Cullum, some of his best grooves have these hard-driving piano lines that set things up wonderfully – grabbing us strongly even before the vocals come in! The set features a bonus Gilles Peterson remix of "Reality & Fantasy" – and other titles include "Icarus", "Tuesday", "A Three Second Breath", "Behind The Sunrise", "Scandalize Me", and "Lady O". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
