A compellingly tuneful track from the free jazz power trio of Peter Brotzmann, Fred Van Hove, and Han Bennink – the group's rendition of a Hanns Eisler tune, "Einheitsfrontlied", done in a way that has the melody started strongly with rhythm – before letting the three group members free to really do their own thing! Van Hove delivers some searing piano right in the middle – and Brotzmann gets some sounds on his horn that are mindblowing at the start – while Bennink has this never-resting percussive energy that really moves the whole thing along!
