Ahhhhh . . . By this point, George Clinton and the P-Funk team were on top of the world! The record is a masterful dose of slick mothership jamming – perfectly woven together with that tightly compressed style that really served Clinton's production work well. The tracks are long, but never too loopy – and thanks to help from the Bernie Worrell, Jerome Brailey, Gary Shider, and the Horny Horns, the album stays very tight instrumentally all the way through! Loads of Parliament classics, including "Bop Gun", "Funkentelechy", "Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk", and the massive "Flash Light", which we've heard a million times, but which never ceases to amaze us!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Damn, is this a great record! The album's not only one of the best blacksploitation soundtracks ever recorded, it's also one of James Brown's funkiest outings of the early 70s! Sweet soul with a nice disco groove – by a singer who was brought to light during the Bee Gees' big disco years of the 70s! Teri's got a wonderful approach here – almost earlier female pop, but with a soulful range too – one that's really brought out by the arrangements, which ... CD

A sweet club classic from the soulful Parlet trio – one of the best George Clinton side projects during his legendary late 70s run – and a group who've continued to move plenty of dancefloors over the decades! There's a funky energy at the core that really sets Parlet apart from other ... CD

A full album's worth of material from the legendary Irma Thomas – most of it never heard before! Irma got her start as one of the most important female soul singers from New Orleans in the 60s – but the music here was all recorded for Atlantic Records at the start of the 70s – at ... CD
