Jam In Yokota (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 590315) Crown (Japan), 1973 — Condition: New Copy
An amazing little groover from Japan – a double-length, stretched-out set of soul jazz jamming – with killer Hammond, soulful tenor, and lots of trumpet, trombone, and guitar too! The tracks are all nice and long, and the album was recorded live – at a US Air Force base, from the look of the liner photos – with a freewheeling sound that's almost like catching a set at some hip Newark club back in the day! There's a rock-solid Prestige Records feel to the set – like some of Charles Earland's live sets for the label – and the whole thing's quite different than the usual Japanese jazz release of the time. Titles include "Blind Man", "Pig's Legs", "Blues Talk", "Soul Talk", "Minorkimuchi", and "Mrs Robinson". (Part of the excellent Deep Jazz Reality series!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
