A beautifully packaged box set if we've ever seen one -- celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Def Jam hip hop -- each disc featuring a well chosen sampler of classic tracks from a 5 year period of the labels history! It's no easy task programming a set like this, and we could argue for 25 more years about the choices, but the bottom line is that they've done an excellent job of capturing the eras hits, and the lavish packaging is great, too! The discs are separated chronologically: Disc 1 includes "I Need A Beat" by LL Cool J, "It's The Beat" by Hollis Crew", "Bring The Noise", by Public Enemy", "Gas Face" (rmx) by 3rd Bass, "It's Yours" by T La Rock & Jazzy Jay, "Brass Monkey" by Beastie Boys and more. Disc 2 is 1989-1993, with "Gold Digger" by EPMD, Daddy's Little Girl" by Nikki D, "Hip Hop Junkies" by Nice & Smooth and more. Disc 3 is 1994-1998, and includes "This Is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan, "I'll Be There For You" by Method Man & Mary J Blige, "Hard Knock Life" by Jay Z and more. Disc 4 is 1994-2003, and inclides "99 Problems" by Jay Z, "Just Friends" by Musiq Soulchiled, "Southern Hospitality" by Ludacris & Pharrell, "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West and more. Disc 5 is 2004-2008, and includes "Gold Digger" by Kanye, "Hustlin" by Rick Ross, "Don't Feel Right" by The Roots, "Put On" by Young Jeezy and more. 60 tracks on 5 CDs, plus a nice booklet and an Adidas t-shirt, packaged in a mini record crate!
