Lift It Up!
CD (Item 606795) Sookie (UK), 2012 — Condition: New Copy
A classic-styled combo with a razor-sharp instrumental sound – one the group's honed over a few years' worth of live funk gigs on the European scene – including a few backing up famous vocalists from the 60s and 70s! The groove here is more than enough to help the group stand on their own – and it's got a funky focus that's particularly sharp on the sound of the late 60s – a time when things were still very live, but very tight – never too overly-jamming, and with a damn hard emphasis on the overall rhythm of the group. There's definitely some sweet breakout solos on trumpet, tenor, and organ – and although a few cuts feature vocals, these guys are definitely smoking most when they're on their own instrumentally. Titles include "Soul & Sunshine", "Snake Out", "Lift It Up", "In The Doghouse", "If I Had A Man Like You", "Makin Gravy", "Mr Biscuits", "Mr Hot Pants", and "The Breaker". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
