The wonderful thing about this one is that the album allows you to hear how great Jerry could be in any setting – even without the fabulous studio work that graced most of his classic hits. Jerry emerges here as a masterful entertainer, with a rich command of both his talents, and the audience in front of him. No schmaltz, though – and the record features nice versions of "Moon River", "He Will Break Your Heart", "Amen", "For Your Precious Love", and "I Stand Accused" – most clearly recorded live so that Mercury would at least have versions of them in the catalog to compete with the Vee Jay recordings. (Cover has moisture staining in the bottom right corner.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Fountain, 1982. Near Mint-
If you grew up in Chitown, like we did, you'll know that Jerry Butler never got old – and through the years he continued to make some pretty darn great music, even when he was falling far from the limelight in the rest of the country! This album's a great little early 80s effort that steps ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little concept album – and one that really shows the continuing sophistication and growth of Jerry Butler's music in the 70s! The record is dedicated to the "single girl" of the 70s (portrayed with the sad little photo of a brown bag lunch and a Gucci purse on the cover) ... LP, Vinyl record album

Seminal work by one of our favorite soul singers of all time! Jerry first came to fame with The Impressions and on his own in the early 60s – singing dark moody easy tunes that well earned him the nickname of "Iceman". In the late 60s, though, he moved onto Mercury where he broke ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mercury, 1975. Very Good Gatefold
One of the biggest albums ever for Ohio Players – a set that took their earlier funk sound and targeted firmly at the mainstream with a lean, mean groove that a million other groups copied at the time! There's still plenty of the soul of the early years in the group's approach here – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Message To The People
Mercury, Late 60s. Very Good Gatefold
A classic bit of tripped-out soul from Buddy Miles – put together with a lot of nice psychedelic production, and an overall sound that stays nice and deep on the bottom end of things – and lets Buddy rock out heavily on rootsy vocals. There's no real standout funky numbers, but the ... LP, Vinyl record album

A super tripped-out blend of rock, funk, and soul – easily one of Buddy Miles' most mindblowing albums – and a classic that never lets up at all! Buddy's leading the whole group on drums – really kicking things large from behind the kit – while the rest of the group jams in ... LP, Vinyl record album
