Cedar Walton sounds inspired, vibrant and great even this late in his career – working nicely at the piano on this set of his own tunes here for High Note – with great group of players that includes Vincent Herring on sax and flute, the Steve Turre on trombone, David Williams on bass, Willie Jones III on drums. Walton locks into a wonderful groove with his group, leads beautifully on piano with some brilliant solos and leaves plenty of room for his players to step out and shine. A worthy effort from one of the greats! Includes "The Bouncer", "Lament", "Bell For Bags", "Halo", "Underground Memoirs" (with some additional percussion by Ray Mantilla), "Willie's Groove", "Got To Get To The Island" and "Martha's Prize".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
