Rare work from Aldo Piga – one of the lesser-known Italian film composers of the 60s! The set begins with a great mid 60s score for 5 Tombe Per Un Medium – used in that maturing mode of dramatic styles that you'd hear more in Brit horror films of the time – lush, yet with spare moments – this great sense of darkness that almost seems to come from the way the music's often more well-arranged than the images and performances on the screen! CD features 15 tracks from the film – including two bonus alternate numbers! Next is Il Mostro Dell'Opera – equally lush at points, but in a more old school sort of way – and peppered with a few really cool dramatic effects that are mighty nice – spooky sounds that almost work with a visual sense of their own!
