Radiophonic Workshop – The Seasons

Add Item to Want List
LP (Item 602244) BBC/Trunk (UK), 1969 — Condition: New Copy

A lost treasure from the legendary Radiophonic Workshop of the BBC – a set filled with loads of cool electronics from David Cain, mixed with spoken passages based on the poetry of Ronald Duncan! The electronics are at the forefront here – and the album sparkles with the creative intensity of some of the best Radiophonic projects of the period – in modes that are clearly experimental, yet not so much as to alienate a mainstream audience – that great stretch before electronics started getting too noisy! Derek Bowskill reads Duncan's words in this style that's almost proper British English – making for a really cool contrast with the more contemporary electronics. And the whole thing was originally devised as an aid to dance and improvisation – which gives it the same sort of feel as some of the educational projects of Bruce Haack! Titles include "January", "Spring", "December", "June", "May", "Winter", "Summer", and "The Year".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
