The Van Dyke Parks collection we've been wanting to see for years – one that brings together all the cool and groovy arrangements he's done for other folks, plus some rare tracks of his own as well! If you only know Parks' albums, you're only getting the tip of the iceberg – because Van Dyke did so much wonderful music that ended up in odd sources in the 60s and 70s – obscure singles, overlooked album cuts, and marvelous nuggets that often got buried on records that didn't always hit the mainstream – but which were years ahead of their time! Van Dyke had a great hand in putting this set together, and honestly it's kind of like his "great lost album" – an uttering from those sublime years of the Warner Brothers label at the end of the 60s and start of the 70s – when Parks and a select group of hipsters really had free reign to mess around in the studio. Titles include "Farther Along", "Ice Capades (moog music 67)", "Come To The Sunshine", "Out On The Rolling Sea", and "The Eagle & Me" by Van Dyke Parks – plus "Alligator Man" by Sal Valentin, "Wha She Go Do" by Bonnie Raitt, "Sit Down I Think I Love You" by The Mojo Men, "One Meatball" by Ry Cooder, "Cheek To Cheek" by Lowell George, "Sitting Here In Limbo" by Dino Martin, "Donovan's Colours" by George Washington Brown, and "Valley To Pray" by Arlo Guthrie.
