A late 60s Motown classic – with a deep heavy soul sound that mixed psychedelic elements into a rolling righteous groove – with a style that was perfect for the political tenor of the times! The formula worked extremely well for The Temps, and shifted them from being just a regular Motown vocal group into a super soul power that shaped soul music heavily in the next few years. Of course, a good deal of the credit goes to producer Norman Whitfield – who's really in his element on the set, and gives the group a sublime blend of heavy bass, fuzzy guitar, and tripped-out production on the vocals. Includes the classic "Psychedelic Shack", plus "Friendship Train", "Take A Stroll Thru Your Mind", "Hum Along And Dance", and "It's Summer". (Original pressing. Cover has some wear and some seam splitting.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Gordy, 1985. Sealed
While not as sublime as Edwards' first solo LP, this second set from him is still a great set of mellow modern soul, with a very 80s approach to the production and arrangements. Cadet, 1966. Very Good-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! A bomb! The title of this one says it all – a burning anthem of pride and power, issued in 1969, at the end of one of the most troubling decades in America. James answers all the Uncle Tom cries from his critics – and comes up with "Say It Loud", an instant chant that was ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of McDuff's fantastic Cadet LPs, and one that features the funky funky organist in a set of crazy arrangements written by him and Richard Evans.
