CD (Item 603538) Island/Esoteric (UK), 1972 — Condition: New Copy

The first solo album from Jim Capaldi – and a wicked little set that has Capaldi not only working with fellow bandmates from Traffic, but also with some of the best musicians on the Muscle Shoals scene! The combination of both unlock an even more soulful style than you'd expect from any Traffic side project – and provide a perfect focus for Capaldi's great vocals – already crossing over big to a soul scene with his Traffic recordings, but sparking even new interest here with Muscle Shoals rhythms. The sound is wonderful – quite different than Capaldi's bigger hits in later years, and with a rootsy, earnest feel that reminds us that at their roots, all these British acts really got things right at the start – with a freshness that needs to be remembered, even amidst their later cliches. Titles include "Eve", "Don't Be A Hero", "Last Day Of Dawn", "Oh How We Danced", "Open Your Heart", and "Love Is All You Can Try". CD also features a bonus b-side – "Going Down Slow All The Way".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
