Story Of Vernon Garrett 1967 to 1975
LP (Item 601418) Tramp (Germany), Late 60s/1970s — Condition: New Copy
A nearly decade-long study of the Story Of Vernon Garrett – nicely covering the breadth of styles he could pull off, while drawing heavily from the best of it – from chugging raw soul, to grittier funk to some mellower numbers! There's a rawness at the core of Vernon's sound that serves him very well, whether it's the funkier numbers – of which this retrospective hones in on for the most part – to songs with a horn-heavy southern style despite the west coast recordings, to some solid bluesy soul rave ups. A strong testament to this greatly underappreciated talent! Includes "Cave Man", "Just Ain't My Day", "Escape", "You Blew My Mind", "We The People Of The Ghetto", "I Learned My Lesson", "Don't Do What I Do", "Keep On Forgiving You", "Satisfying Woman, Satisfying Man", "Something Went Wrong" and more. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
