Warszawski Rock & Roll – Late 60sVarious
CD (Item 611531) Polskie Nagrania (Poland), Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
Polish rock of the late 60s – surprisingly raucous music for a Soviet-controlled scene at the time – and often done with that same sort of offbeat take on Anglo modes you'd find in some of the South American scenes of the period! Styles here are heavy on garage influences – echoey guitar, often with a raw edge – spare, simple rhythms – and usually some sort of keyboard or organ lines that bubble through the grooves, and bring things a slightly spooky sort of edge! Lyrics are in Polish throughout, and most tracks appear to be originals – not the kind of covers of American hits that you might find from Brazil's Jovem Guarda. Titles include "Nascie Lat" and "Niewinny Zlodziej" by Chocholy, "Ginchy" by Big Beat Sextet, "Topiel" by Pieciu, "Widzisz Mila" by Bardowie, "Slowa Imiona" by Pesymisci, "Gwiazdy" by Warszawskie Kuranty, and "Zal" by Tajfuny. 21 tracks in all – with some bonus cuts too! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
