A real standout in Ennio Morricone's roster of great work from the time – a record with all the best elements in place – including vocals by Edda Dell'Orso and orchestrations by Bruno Nicolai – but an overall format that's a bit different than usual! Most of the tracks here are quite long – a few stretching out almost to 10 minutes, in a real change from the shorter snippets of the usual Morricone soundtracks of the period. And while the music is often sweetly beautiful, the longer tracks allow the maestro to explore the themes even more deeply – serving up an incredibly haunting blend of voice, woodwinds, and some great electric harpsichord – all blended perfectly together!
