Are We The Red Inspectors? Are We?
CD (Item 603417) Acid Jazz (UK), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Why, yes, they are the Red Inspectors – and a nice Hammond jazz funk combo, too – here with a strong debut for Acid Jazz! The quartet – featuring bass player Andy Lewis (whose earlier releases on Acid Jazz are well worth seeking out), drummer Miles Chapman, guitarist Pete Twyman and organ player Alex Richards – formed out of a shared love from pioneering UK jazz-soul-mod melders such as Brand New Heavies and the James Taylor Quaret – and they do more than do them all justice. There's moddish instrumental soul, jazzy organ funk, loungey soundtrack and other groovy styles in the mix here. Excellent stuff on Acid Jazz! "Spectrum Boy", "The Kardomah", "Grand Union Carnival", "Into Morocco", "He's A Menace", "Red Mercury", "Clutching At Straws", "13948 Overture", "Frankenstein's Finger", "I Am The Master Fly", "The Apology Squad" and more. 12 tracks in all. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
