One of the greatest musical film soundtracks of the 50s – a great little record based around the compositions of Cole Porter, and featuring vocals by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, and Grace Kelly! The film itself is a musical remake of The Philadelpha Story – one that updates the story a bit, and sets it in Newport at the time of the jazz festival. Louis Armstrong's music is plenty great, but the vocals are even better – and the film is especially noteworthy as an on-screen meeting between Sinatra and Crosby, who come nicely head to head on the tune "Well Did You Evah". This CD version expands the whole thing even more than previously – with spoken bits by Kelly, Crosby, and Sinatra, and a few bonus tracks as well. Titles include "True Love" by Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" by Frank Sinatra & Celeste Holm, "Well Did You Evah" by Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra, "Mind If I Make Love To You" by Frank Sinatra & Grace Kelly, "High Society Calypso" by Louis Armstrong, "Little One" by Bing Crosby & Louis Armstrong, and "Now You Has Jazz" by Bing Crosby & Louis Armstrong. (Sealed – feels like a 60s pressing.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

One of the first great electric moments for Henry Mancini in the 70s – and a record that's got a way groovier sound than you might expect from the title! Things are still very much in the best soundtrack Mancini mode – and pretty jazzy, too – but there's also a bit of Arp on the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Smash, Mid 60s. Very Good
Great live set recorded by Jon Hendricks during a time when he was making his home in the artsy community of Sausalito, on the San Francisco Bay. The set's recorded at the town's tiny Trident club, where Jon played for a while on a very regular basis, and the feeling is very relaxed and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Make Love to Me
Liberty, 1957. Very Good+
Hard to imagine that Julie London would ever have to ask anyone to make love to her – at least not when she looks as sexy as this on the cover! The album's a key early classic for Liberty – still very fragile, personal, and up-close enough to make you think you might just be able to ... LP, Vinyl record album
