CD (Item 604535) Antilla, Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Amazing flute work from the legendary Fajardo – a player who was right up there with Pacheco in his pre-percussion years! The set's got a great sharp edge right from the start – a quality that might well come from the production, but which definitely keeps things from ever sounding too sweet at all – really focusing in on those quick bursts and twists of sound that come from the lead flute lines. Grooves are often nicely staccato – almost a more percussive take on the pachanga generation, given the way the timbales ring out strongly – and titles include "Penicilina", "Una Rosa De Francia", "Una Taza De Arroz", "Liceo Del Pilar", "Meditacion", and "Amalia Batista".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
