Rejuvention
CD (Item 482262) ESP, 2009 — Condition: New Copy
A recent recording, but one that really lives up to the classic spirit of the ESP label – especially given the raw trio sound of the group! The lineup features Louie Belogenis on tenor, Joe Morris on bass, and Charles Downs on drums – a player who was also known as Rashid Bakr, and who brings a deeply introspective approach to his percussion work here. Belogenis' tenor has a raw, bracing quality at points – almost echoing an Ayler tradition – and Morris' bass work really holds things together beautifully, and is featured quite strongly in the well-recorded mix here. Titles include "Reflection", "Slow Cab", "Pick Up Sticks", "Succor", "Unfolding", "Rejuvenation", and "Two Acts". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
