Salsa (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 554312) Disques Dessinee (Japan), 1979 — Condition: New Copy
A beautiful set of Latin tracks from 70s France – recorded with a very unusual style, as you might imagine! The approach here is a bit lighter and more lyrical than New York Latin of the time – still with tight percussion on the bottom, but also dancing around with Fender Rhodes and guitar over the top – really putting a strong focus on these instruments next to Pierre's vocals, so that there's almost a bit of lightly dancing bossa in the mix as well! The sound is incredible – like nothing we've ever heard before – and the record's got a transcendent approach that steps far away from any simple genre expectations – another great demonstration of why the French recording scene was such a hotbed of cross-cultural activity in the 70s! Titles include "Leve Leve", "Mi Bagail", "Foyal", "Tiembe Raid", "Bo Canal", "Soso", and "Madinina". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
