Product Der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft
CD (Item 612075) Warning/Bureau B (Germany), 1979 — Condition: New Copy
The start of a legend – and an incredible debut album from DAF! DAF might be better-known for their clubby hits in the 80s – but with this initial album, they had a sound that was much more dark and brutal – a distillation of proggy noise that had brewed up earlier in Germany from groups like Kluster or Can – compressed down to the energy of the post-punk generation, with a vibe that's a bit similar to that of UK acts like Human League or Cabaret Voltaire in their earliest days – yet without all the electronics! There's definitely a bit of electricity in the sound here, but most of the instrumentation comes from live drums and guitars – played with this really raw, droning energy that's wonderful – and which makes the album a microcosmic summation of the best German elements of the 70s. Brilliant throughout – and filled with short songs that run from nineteen seconds to three minutes in length. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
