A later delight from the great Bernt Rosengren – one of the greatest Swedish jazz players of his generation, blowing here with a wonderfully mature sound! Bernt always had an edge in the early days, and later, he found a way to turn that edge towards straighter sounds – really opening them up with raspy undercurrents that make for incredibly soulful music overall – a tenor legacy that's right at home in a range that goes back through Stan Getz and Lester Young. This set features a tight group with excellent piano from Carl Fredrik Orrje, who seems to set each tune on fire a bit with his tone – plus guitar from Anders Ullberg, bass from Torbjorn Hultcrantz, and drums from Leif Wennerstrom.
