An excellent bit of modern soul by Debra Laws – really her only album, but an instant classic nonetheless! The set's an impeccable batch of smooth tracks – recorded with production by brothers Ronnie and Hubert – and Debra's vocals have a sophisticated jazzy touch that sets the record strongly above most other female soul records of the time. Includes the incredible title cut "Very Special" – a classic mellow groover that we'll never tire of – plus loads of other great tracks, like "Be Yourself", "Your Love", and "Long As We're Together". (White label promo. Cover has a promo stamp and light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Atlantic, 1972. Near Mint-
Wicked electric funk from Young Holt Unlimited – and a real departure from the sound of their 60s albums, and a step into a groove that's very 70s-styled overall! The album's heavy on Fender Rhodes – played not just by group member Ken Chaney, but also by a young Bobby Lyle – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cadet, 1966. Very Good-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! The great Richard Evans is still at the head of The Strings, and the album features solo work by Charles Stepney and Lennie Druss, in a cool breezy Chess/Cadet soul jazz kind of mode. The ...
