It's Zimmerman's World We Just Live In ItVarious
LP (Item 596907) Pet Records, Mid 60s — Condition: New Copy
A freewheelin' compilation of obscure, groovy Bob Dylan knockoff singles from the mid 60s – pretty wild stuff! Its got a few numbers by singers who so totally and so brazenly imitate Dylan's vocal mannerisms, they almost sound like weird, mirror image, bizarro world songs by the man himself – and many more that kind of do their own thing, albeit with Dylan-esque lyrical imagery – all of it very well produced and performed. It's not all by complete unknowns (how does it feeeeeeeeellllll???), with a track by Tommy Boyce of Boyce & Hart and Monkees songwriting fame, Gary Usher cohort Dick Campbell and others, but most of it is cool & strange stuff by folks we've never heard of – with material ranging from chiming folk rock to surrealistic psych pop! Includes "Breaking Your Balloon" by Johnny Cymbal, "Leaving It All Behind" by The Toads, "Gotta Turn Myself On, Babe" by TJ Black, "Come Free My Mind" by Darrell Cotton, "Thank You Babe" by The Changin' Times, "Pretty Thing (Your Out Of Sight)". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
