Blackman
CD (Item 598611) P-Vine (Japan), 1974 — Condition: New Copy
Beautifully tripped out grooves from Akeeb Kareem – a set recorded in Lagos in the mid 70s, and done with lots of offbeat guitar lines and weird tricks in the studio! The sound is one that you'd be tempted to call "Afro psych", but it's also plenty funky too – although with rhythms that are nicely complicated, and a nice change from the more familiar side of the 70s Afro Funk spectrum! Most numbers have vocals, wrapped up alongside the instrumentation – and the set's a perfect one if you're looking to dig deeper past material on the Soundway and Analogue Africa compilations. Titles include "Oloufe", "Call Me Blackman", "Awa Na Re", "Sad Memory", and "Tomorrow". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
