Melvin Davis – His Greatest Recordings
CD (Item 434799) Rock Mill/Hayley (UK), 1960s/1970s/1980s — Condition: New Copy
The first-ever collection of work by the mighty Melvin Davis – a key figure in the Detroit soul underground from the early 60s onward! Davis is probably best remembered for his key role as a vocalist in The 8th Day – the short-lived soul group on Invictus – but before and after that work, he recorded many great indie singles, including a fair bit for his own Rock Mill label! This package starts with Melvin's earliest years, and features some great Northern Soul tracks from the 60s – then moves up into the years of his 70s self-produced work, up on into more recent years, to show that Davis still continues to work strongly as one of the few true soul survivors on the Detroit scene! The set's put together with the same great care as other titles on the excellent Hayley label – and titles include "Find A Quiet Place", "Chains Of Love", "I Need My Baby", "I'm The One Who Loves You", "Faith", "Save It", "You've Got To Crawl", "Eeny Meeny Miny Mo", "I'm Worried", "Double Or Nothing", "Let Love In Your Life", "Saving Myself For You", "Roots Of Disco", and "Thinking Of You". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
