Keystone Companions – The Complete Fantasy Recordings Of Merl Saunders (4CD set)

Add Item to Want List
CD (Item 626434) Fantasy, 1973 — Condition: New Copy

Massive Bay Area sounds from the 70s – a mighty meeting of organist Merl Saunders and Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia – both coming together in a setting that offers up a wicked blend of jazz, funk, blues, and rock! Jerry definitely sings a bit, but the longer tracks show a stronger focus on his legendary guitar work – and Saunders handles a few different keyboards, all with equally deft touches – as he and Garcia really open up as the set rolls on. This massive 4CD package features all the live material recorded by the duo at the Keystone club in 1972 – and also features 7 bonus tracks never issued before – all wrapped up in a cool box that also comes with a poster, a Keystone coaster, book of matches, and a pin! Titles include "My Funny Valentine", "Keepers", "The Harder They Come", "Merl's Tune", "I Second That Emotion", "It Ain't No Use", "Positively 4th Street", "Someday Baby", "Like A Road Leading Home", "Money Honey", and "How Sweet It Is".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
