CD (Item 602270) Digitmovies (Italy), 1970/1972 — Condition: New Copy

Two beautifully sensitive scores from the great Stelvio Cipriani – a sometimes-overlooked Italian maestro from the 70s, and one who finally seems to be getting his due in the reissue market! Estratto Dagli Archivi Segreti is a soundtrack made up of some beautifully spare moments – a haunting organ line at one moment, light guitar bit the next – slowly moving throughout the passage of music from light to darkness – a shift in mood that's initially subtle, but quite striking for the end – really exploring that tension between erotic and horrific that made so many Italian 70s films so great! Whirlpool is a bit more dark right from the start – with some great spooky use of odd tones amidst slow timings, and production that moves the instrumentation nicely from its roots. There's actually a few lighter tracks in the mix too – including one excellent bossa-styled number – and as usual with Cipriani, the piano and keyboard lines really have a great way of floating out of the mix! CD features a total of 27 tracks, and great remastering!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
