Pretty Boy Rock & Roll – Switchin' In The Kitchen/Rockin' The Mule/Mary/Ooh My Soul
7-inch (Item 588943) Norton, 1958 — Condition: New Copy
Great early work from Don Covay – recording here under the name of "Pretty Boy", and working in a style that's quite different from his later Atlantic soul! The style here is clearly influenced by the 50s R&B of Little Richard and Larry Williams – as Don's singing in a shouting style that often features an "ooooh" exclamation on the chorus, over rhythms that are awash in heavy drums and hard piano triplets. The EP features both sides of the rare Pretty Boy single on the Big label, plus 2 more previously unissued tracks! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
