Tamanrasset EP (limited edition)
LP (Item 570096) Now Again, 2011 — Condition: New Copy
African influenced funk from Karl Hector & The Malcouns – the long-standing deep funk collective centered around guitarist and producer Jay Whitefield and other players from modern funk trailblazers Poets Of Rhythm and The Whitefield Brothers – who bring their most globally steeped grit and groove when they're working as Karl Hector & The Malcouns! The Tamanrasset EP goes even deeper in the African influenced sounds than the Sahara Swing album did – but there's enough freewheeling psychedelic funk in the mix to make this much more than a mere Afro or Ethio Funk revival effort. Swirling organs, heavy and dexterous bass lines, great horns and all around masterful musicianship really sets this group apart, as does their longstanding underground funk pedigree. Includes "El Gusto", "Tamanrasset", "M'hammath (Live)", "Girma's Lament" and "Wajeerta Hoose (The Lower Wajeer)". We wish it ran longer, but wanting more isn't much of a flaw, is it? (Vinyl only release with hand silk screened cover by Hit + Run – limited to 1000 copies and Now Again promises it will not be repressed!!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
