African influenced funk from Karl Hector & The Malcouns – the long-standing deep funk collective centered around guitarist and producer Jay Whitefield and other players from modern funk trailblazers Poets Of Rhythm and The Whitefield Brothers – who bring their most globally steeped grit and groove when they're working as Karl Hector & The Malcouns! The Tamanrasset EP goes even deeper in the African influenced sounds than the Sahara Swing album did – but there's enough freewheeling psychedelic funk in the mix to make this much more than a mere Afro or Ethio Funk revival effort. Swirling organs, heavy and dexterous bass lines, great horns and all around masterful musicianship really sets this group apart, as does their longstanding underground funk pedigree. Includes "El Gusto", "Tamanrasset", "M'hammath (Live)", "Girma's Lament" and "Wajeerta Hoose (The Lower Wajeer)". We wish it ran longer, but wanting more isn't much of a flaw, is it? (Vinyl only release with hand silk screened cover by Hit + Run – limited to 1000 copies and Now Again promises it will not be repressed!!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Now Again/Stones Throw, 2013. New Copy
Some of the deepest, darkest sounds we've ever heard from The Heliocentrics – and that's saying a lot, given the freak and fuzz of these guys' other work! 13 Degrees Of Reality
Now Again/Stones Throw, 2013. New Copy
If this is reality, lead us onward – as the set is a mindblowing batch of trippy psych-funk from The Heliocentrics – even more offbeat and experimental than before, in ways that make the combo the true heirs to the legacy first begun by Stark Reality! Tremendous work from Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – a set that took a bit longer to hit the racks than expected, but which really shows a richness that more than makes up for the delay! A stunner – the first full album by deep funk singer Sharon Jones, and an instant soul masterpiece! London/Abkco, Mid 60s. New Copy (reissue)
Essentially early Stones! 12 X 5 is The Rolling Stones at a very early, hard grooving peak, way back in '64. It's ground breaking stuff, in they they truly pave the way for so much of the soul, blues and R&B loving Anglos to come out of the Brit and US scenes in the months and years to come. ...
