Late work by Django – one 10" LP session coupled with 4 sides that were originally issued as 78rpm singles! The first 8 tracks have Django working with a trio led by pianist Maurice Vander – a slight trace of bop in the style, making for a slightly different feel than earlier years. The other 4 tracks feature a great group – with Fats Sadi on vibes, Pierre Michelot on bass, and Marial Solal on piano – making for a total of 12 tracks in all, with titles that include "Blues For Ike", "Le Soir", "Chez Moi", "Nuages", "Confessin", "Insensiblement", and "Deccaphonie".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Pure genius throughout – two great albums on a single CD! Trombone Jazz Samba is an overlooked gem from Bob Brookmeyer – and a set that fits in strongly with the other Verve Records bossa nova albums of the 60s! Bob's the center star on valve trombone, but the record's awash in work ... CD
