Centerfold
CD (Item 539654) Columbia/FTG, 1988 — Condition: New Copy
Bright, bubbly soul from Centerfield – the 80s soul duo of Keni Towns and Phil Jones – who both sing and play most of the instrumentation on the set! The sound's not as lean as you might expect for a duo album – thanks to the addition of some studio help too – but the overall approach has lots of that tight 80s soul punch in the rhythms, with some especially explosive moments in the rhythms – that point when hip hop beats started influencing mainstream R&B, although more in an electro soul mode on some cuts. Titles include "Party Rebels", "Earth Jam", "I Didn't Know", "Head Over Heels", "Admit It", and a version of "Shoe Shoe Shine". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
