Firstborn
CD (Item 485556) Texicalli (Finland), 2008 — Condition: New Copy
Drummer Jussie Lehtonen's first album as a leader – and it's a nice one! Lehtonen's been an active player in the Helsinki jazz scene for a while – and his Firstborn album is a ripe and mature set, with compositions that show a pretty remarkable depth. Much of it is an a pretty energetic mode, but not so much in a fiery sense as dexterous, some time with kind of galloping rhythms and a bit of a swing to it, and at others a bit more smoothed out, without ever getting too neat and tidy. Players include "Joonatan Rautio on sax, Teemu Viinikainen on guitar, Cille Huolman on bass and Abdissa Mamba Assefa on percussion. Titles include "Chillin At Kaitaa", "Low Five", "Roundabout", "Fiesta", "The Wingman", "Ballad For Loila", "Some More Blues" and "Firstborn". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
