Touch Of Evil
LP (Item 451653) Challenge, 1958 — Condition: Used
One of the darkest, most dramatic Henry Mancini soundtracks of the 50s – music penned for Orson Welles' Touch Of Evil, with a history as checkered as the film itself! Mancini's in his best early mode here – mixing bits of jazz with touches of rock and roll – and often hitting some brooding moments at times too, especially during the tenser parts of the narrative. Players in the group include a horde of west coast jazzmen – including Red Norvo on vibes, Pete Candoli on trumpet, Plas Johnson on tenor, and Jack Costanzo on bongos – all of whom get some nice licks in on the set!
