Live At The Scene – February 22, 1967
CD (Item 587318) Sunbeam (UK), 1967 — Condition: New Copy
Raw, but exciting live material from The Free Spirits – a benchmark group that fused psychedelia and jazz in really unique way in their brief time – and a combo led by a young Larry Coryell! This 1967 recording was captured in their native NYC, and while it's a fairly rough and raw document, the dexterity and energy of the musicianship is really incredible! Guitarist Coryell is also on vocals at times, with Chip Baker also on guitar and vocals, Jim Pepper on sax and flute, Chris Hills on bass and Bob Moses on drums. The last couple of tracks include fellow jazz heavies Dave Liebeman (tenor sax), Randy Brecker (trumpet) and Joe Beck (guitar).
