LP (Item 614571) Sublime Frequencies, Late 2000s — Condition: New Copy

Hypnotic Ethiopian field recordings on Sublime Frequencies – recorded in 2009 by Olivia Wyatt – raw and resonant tribal recordings that provide a fascinating aural journey to contemporary Ethiopia! This is a set that's as evocative as anything we've heard from the global gurus at Sublime Frequencies – which is saying something, because they always transport us straight to where they want us, with just the drop of a needle! Wyatt does a terrific job of detailing the different sounds of the different regions – the Azmari, Borana, Dirashe, Dorze, Gedeo, Konso, Mursi and Tsemay. The performances range from mostly voices and percussion, to busier traditional instrumentation – all of it crisply recorded and beautifully documented! Includes "Borana Singing Wells" by Borana Tribe, "Konso Lyre Song" by Konso Tribe, "Habesha Traditional Song 1" by Habesha 2000 Band, "Masinko Song" by Azmari, "Gedeo Vocals" by Gedeo Tribe, "Dorze Song" by Dorze Tribe and more. 15 recordings on 2LPs – with some great photos and notes in the gatefold.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
