One of the biggest recorrds ever for Ian Carr's Nucleus group – a set that helped the British combo cross over to the US market, thanks to a key release here on Capitol Records! Carr's at the height of his powers here – stretching out on trumpet and flugelhorn, but also playing a bit of electric piano alongside Geoff Castle – the main keyboardist for the set, working here on both Fender Rhodes and mini moog. Tracks are long, but never sloppy, overindulgent, or too jammingly fusion – and the rest of the group features Brian Smith on saxes, Roger Sellers on drums, and Werimu Aata Teransiamoa Karaitana on bass. The record's got a really great building sound – and titles include "Mysteries", "Heyday", "Gestalt", and "In Flagrenti Delicto". (Cover has light wear and a few creases.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Capitol, Late 40s. Good+
A great "birth of the cool" album from Capitol – a 10" record that brings together some key recordings from that pivotal jazz year of 1949! Titles include "Imagination" by a large group with Bill Harris in the lead on trombone; "Wow", "Marionette" ... LP, Vinyl record album

Soul Of The Bible
Capitol, 1972. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
Prime material from Cannonball and David Axelrod – and despite the biblical leanings of the title, the record is pretty darn funky! As they did for the Zodiac, Cannonball and Adderley take a trip through a host of cultural milestones – stopping along the way to turn each one into a new ... LP, Vinyl record album

Here & Now
Capitol, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
A bit mellower than usual for George – but very nice! George's quintet is backed by a larger orchestra – the usual mixture of vibes, piano, guitar, and percussion supported by a larger set of strings, which gives the record a lightly drifting kind of feel. There's not as many Latin ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cuban Fire
Capitol, 1956. Very Good
One of Kenton's greatest records, and the one in which he proves his dedication to Latin styles, by serving up a killer batch of Afro-Cuban tracks with an incredibly authentic feel. The great Johnny Richards handled the arrangements, and the tracks are long and drawn out, with plenty of solo space ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wickedly funky work from the Jazz Crusaders – a pivotal set that has them electrifying their groove a bit more from the 60s, yet still not hitting the smother sound of later years! The core soul jazz mode of the group's start is still nicely in place – hard-hitting grooves from Wayne ... LP, Vinyl record album

Groove Merchant, 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
Sweet funky blues from the team of Junior Parker and Jimmy McGriff – coming together here in a way that's even groovier than some of their previous work!
