On The Dirt Road – Rare & Unreleased NY Funk & Soul 1969 to 1979
LP (Item 438939) Funky Delicacies, 1970s — Condition: New Copy
Rare work by east coast funk combo Willie & The Mighty Magnificents – and a set that seems to feature different material than their classic albums and singles for All Platinum Records! A number of the tracks here are previously unreleased, and others appear to be different or earlier versions of tunes from the later albums – all served up in that trademark mix of skittish drums, heavy bass, and ensemble soul styles that made Willie and the group so great! There's a style here that's very much in the best early Fatback Band sort of mode – and most numbers are recorded with a similarly gritty production style that helps keep the whole thing sounding extra funky! Titles include "Willie's Boogaloo", "On The Dirt Road", "Funky Beat", "Voices Calling So Loud", "Call Me", "It's No Big Deal", "Tonight", "My Home", "The Greatest Is You", "Whatcha Want Us To Do", and "I Think I Finally Got You Girl". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
