Beneath Tones Floor
CD (Item 587347) No Business (Lithuania), 2010 — Condition: New Copy
The compelling title is a perfect fit for this set – as there's plenty of low tones on the record, improvised together in a way that really brings up the bottom end from the basement! Of course, given that Sirone's bass is often right out in front, the low side of the spectrum is certainly given focus – but there's also some beautifully-blown, deep-toned lines from Oluyemi Thomas on bass clarinet – and heck, even his flute and soprano sax feel like they've got a bit of depth too. The group's completed by drummer Michael Wimberly, who also plays additional percussion – and the whole record has a very open loft jazz sort of feel – almost like a rare Sirone record from many years back. Titles include "Dream Worlds", "Beneath Tones Floor", "Mystic Way", "Heavenly Wisdom", and "Spirit Of Ifa". (Limited edition of 500 copies.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
