Duduka Da Fonseca Trio Plays Toninho Horta
CD (Item 589545) Zoho, 2011 — Condition: New Copy
A wonderful criss-crossing of styles – instrumental jazz versions of compositions by Toninho Horta – including many that we know in famous vocal renditions, but which sound equally amazing here in the hands of the Duduka Da Fonseca trio! The group features piano, bass, and drums – a very spare approach, but one that really works with the mood of these tunes – given that Horta's original approach usually had a "less is more" sort of vibe. The real change, though, is the use of David Feldman's piano instead of any vocals – a quality that really unlocks the jazzy elements of the original compositions, and which brings a flowing feel that we really love. Titles include "Francisca", "Aqui Oh", "Bicycle Ride", "Moonstone", "Aquelas Coisas Todas", and "Luisa". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
