CD (Item 25594) Mary Lou/Salsa, Mid 60s — Condition: New Copy

Heavy! This is a stunning rare album from the mid 60s – and it's got a raw raw sound that's definitely in keeping with the "primitivo" tag in the name of the group! The record kicks off with a monster descarga, driven to a mad mad beat by a rolling piano/conga groove. It then moves into a few early merenge tracks that are much harder than usual, then hits a killer Latin Soul version of "Music To Watch Girls By" (titled here as "Cuando Te Miro".) There's a great echoey track called "Guajira Medley", a rolling stormer called "El Robo Del Siglo", and another boogaloo number that's a Latin version of "Downtown"! Mad mad mad – and the kind of rare Latin album we love to find!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
