In The Purest Form
LP (Item 51100) Cotillion, 1979 — Condition: Used
The Cotillion era of smooth bass-heavy funk is firmly in place with the release of this one – an ensemble funk outing with perhaps a few too many members in the ensemble! As is usually the case with such a record, the cuts that work best are the mellow numbers – like "Our Thought (Purity)", "With Pleasure", and "Next Year", all of which groove along at a slow pace with a nice mellow soul feel. Other tracks include "Love You", "Firecracker", and "Can't You See I'm Fired Up". The only exception is the great cut "Strollin" – which is a jazzy instrumental with trumpet and vibes, really working together in a tightly jamming groove!
